Dhammike looks on
The Sanctuary was originally set up eight years ago by local owner Dhammike to provide Ayurvedic treatments for tourists. The Tsunami destroyed the building; Cork aid proposed that Dhammike be provided with a loan to help him rebuild and equip his practice. In return, he would provide a few hours of free daily treatments to the local people of Unawatuna, including free daily consultations with the local Ayurvedic Doctor.
Dhammike utilised his loan effectively, and kept costs low by using local and natural materials. The Sanctuary reopened in May 2005.
