Student from Unawatuna
When the Tsunami struck, Majella witnessed a young boy's home get completely destroyed by the wave. She watched as a surfer tried to help the boy's sister to safety.
The weeks and months after the Tsunami were extremely hard for this young boy and his widowed mother. His sister suffered terribly while she was in hospital and her pained lingered on, until her death four months later, a reminder that people are still to this day sick and dying from the injuries they sustained in the Tsunami.
The Tsunami robbed this boy of his Sister, his home and his school. The Government have not helped the situation by replacing the damaged school grounds with a Boat Yard.
Majella purchased the bicycle to help this boy travel the extra distance he has to go to get to his new school.
